You Good, Sis??? How To Check On Your Friends.
Having a conversation about mental health might be uncomfortable, but it can make a big difference. Check out some of the tips we provide to help those in need.
Reaching OUT
Friends are often our “go to” when we are feeling happy and accomplished. In hard times, depending on who you are you keep hardships to yourself and that’s not how to live.
In today’s society, friendships are important and many times can be one of our most important relationships in our life. So why is it hard to open up to the people we love?
Are we a burden? Do you feel ashamed? Do they care?
Yes! The people in your life should care and do. Often times, we forget to check in on one another because on the outside everything is “all good. “ and life happens quick.
However, we are all on our path of finding ourselves and there are challenges, struggles, trials and tribulations and it is important to be mindful of those around you.
Do you have a friend who only shares good news? Do you have a friend who doesn’t seem like themselves? These are the people we need to check in on. BUT WHY DON’T WE?
It can be uncomfortable or we may just think “they are okay” “they will tell me if somethings wrong” but they might not and often times don’t because of how they are feeling about themselves, its hard or they don’t know how. REMEMBER ITS NOT ABOUT YOU.
There are several ways we can, without it is being “awkward”
-Text them randomly and ask hows your day? How are you feeling? Anything you want to vent about”
-Call them and invite them for a walk or dinner
-Random pop up just to say hi
-Send a inspirational quote
-Share a funny story
-Tell them about a hard time you had and how you overcame
-Share a good time you had with them
We all need someone. It’s important in any relationship to be mindful of one another and any potential signs that they are in need. With an ongoing pandemic, the relationships we have are at the for front and we all need each other to get by.
